Sustainable Gift Guide

In this article, I’m sharing my eco-friendly gift guide and some of my favorite sustainable companies that are worth supporting! I’m hoping this helps give you an easy gift guide for every person on your shopping list this holiday season. Shopping can be fun, and good for the planet!

What does sustainability mean?

Sustainability means that a company makes several ethical choices when it comes to creating their products. From coffee to your favorite skincare product, there are a variety of processes that have to happen from getting a product made and into your hands.

It starts with the materials. Where did those materials come from? Were they farmed or grown in a way that is good for the earth? Second, where were the materials assembled or brought together? Was it in a factory where the workers are paid fairly and have good working conditions? All of these steps play an important role in whether or not a product is sustainable.

Choosing to give sustainable gifts tells the person you are thinking about them, and their future well-being. By choosing to spend your money on sustainable gifts, you can communicate to the retail industry that transparency is a value you are willing to spend on.

There are a few organizations that make it easier to spot sustainable retail items. Organizations like the EWG, Fair Trade Certified, B Corp, Leaping Bunny Chemical Footprint Project all monitor the sustainability efforts of other companies. are a few of the top certification companies that require high sustainability standards in order to obtain their certification.

With that, let the eco-friendly gifting begin!
